guitar : direct, no amp by devi ever
"kids in bed" by sunken.anchor
First, I programmed a drum track (or 3, actually) into my Yamaha Motif 8. I then dumped that into a BOSS digital recorder. The kids were in bed so I ran everything direct. I kind of hated to do that; there was almost no sustain to the notes compared to playing through an amp.
USA Strat Deluxe --> ND+ --> BOSS BR-8 using simulated JC-120, 80% "mic" 20% direct, "mic" at 10cm
Here are the parts as they come in:
1. No effect on the drums.
2. Guitar panned left. ND+ texture knob somewhere between 10 and 2 o'clock, volume about noon, neck pickup. I think I was using the pesudo-humbucker setting w/ the S-1 system, guitar tone knob about half.
3. Guitar panned right, ND+ texture full counter-clockwise, ND volume about 10 o'clock, guitar volume rolled back to about 8, bridge pickup, guitar tone knob about half. This is some of that pseudo-sitar type sound.
4. Guitar straight up the middle, ND+ texture full clockwise, ND volume about 3, neck pickup, guitar tone knob all the way off. Lack of sustain is really apparent as this track comes in. Great octave up sound, though, and it sounds better through an amp.
5. Guitar panned right, ND+ texture full counter-clockwise, volume at 9 o'clock, bridge pickup, guitar tone knob full on. Really cool Albini-esque thin gritty sound.
6. Solo comes back in w/ the same settings as #4.
