Sliced up speaker cones... over-driven pre-amps on mixing boards of the 50's... sessions recorded directly to vinyl before the days of tape and processors and protools.

Volume knob : Controls the outbound gain of the fuzz circuit, and there is a lot of gain on tap. Use it loud to push an amp into overdrive or boost lead parts. Be careful though, it can get very loud on a clean amp!
Texture knob : Most fuzz pedals go from low gain to high gain. The TP stays at high gain and instead allows you to manipulate the character of the fuzz. Not so much a filter sweep tone knob, but rather an over all fuzz shaper. The two extreme settings (hard left and hard right) range from crunchy to smooth, while the middle ground is a pretty general fuzz tone.
Mode foot switch : This engages an alternate fuzz mode which introduces a singing oscillation which can fatten up your guitar tone and make notes seem to drift on forever.
